Welcome..
Irvinestown Credit Union Ltd was formed in 1971 as part of the expanding credit union network in Ireland. It moved to its current premises in Mill Street in 1981. The credit union provides saving and lending facilities to members. In order to qualify for membership a person must live or work in the parishes of Kilskeery and Devenish in the south west Tyrone/north Fermanagh area. This area approximates to parts of the BT78 and BT94 postal areas of counties Tyrone and Fermanagh.
As well as premises in the town of Irvinestown, the credit union provides banking facilities in the town of Trillick in Co Tyrone, and the area of Coa in Co Fermanagh. In both areas there are no mainstream banking facilities.
The Credit Union also works in local schools, both the controlled and maintained sector, promoting the concept of saving and also providing the facility for young savers to make their deposits in school.
The Credit Union currently has 2,500 adult members of whom 725 are borrowers. There are 587 savers aged under 16 and in total 1,065 of the members are aged under 25.
An adult member may deposit savings of up to £39,350 and a junior member (U16) up to £10,000.
Members may borrow up to £15,000 in excess of their savings or five times their savings. A member must be over 18 years of age to borrow and must repay within five years. The APR is 12.68% (fixed by law)
